Retail Boost on the Cards for Morecambe Shopping Centre

Posted on 27th September 2011

Following swiftly on from the opening of Morecambe’s newest hotel, Robert Pinkus & Co. can report a surge of interest in the vacant retail units currently being marketed in the town’s main shopping centre.

Since Travelodge opened its doors in August there has been a flurry of activity at the Arndale Shopping Centre and we are confident that several significant national retailers could be signed up to the centre in time for Christmas trading. Claire Caunce, retail & leisure surveyor said, “There has been considerable interest from various national retailers on several of the internal units, a high percentage of which could all be taken in the next couple of months. If this happens, it will mean a fresh new look for the Arndale Centre and a massive well needed boost for the town’s retail trade. We are very excited at the various prospects on the table.”

“The opening of the Travelodge has aroused the interest of retailers again to Morecambe and is enticing speculative interest towards the shopping centre. The challenge is now on to secure two new tenants for the two units located at the exterior of the centre, adjacent to the new hotel.”

The two new retail units located on Euston Road are 1,457 sq ft and 1,767 sq ft respectively. In addition to being adjacent to the new Travelodge Hotel, the units will also benefit from increased visitor numbers and customer footfall to the shopping centre, which already boasts prime high street names such as Tesco, Boots, Argos and New Look.
