Merlin Diesel Takes on Double its Size

Posted on 17th July 2010

One of the UK’s leading diesel fuel injection specialists is expanding its business and has taken new premises at a leading South Ribble business park to cope with the demand.

Merlin Diesel Systems Ltd. will more than double its size to 55,000 sq ft by relocating to Bradkirk Place, within the same business park. They have taken two interconnecting warehousing units on a long-term lease, and have carried out extensive modifications to the premises including a new office block and mezzanine floor. The move to larger premises is expected to create further jobs for the area over the next 18 months.

Managing Driector Leigh Bramley said, “The business has grown from strength to strength over the last 10 years and we hope that this success continues. We had outgrown our current location and needed somewhere that could work now and yet provide enough space for continued expansion over the next 20 years. We have a committed local workforce and have been very happy in our current location on Walton Summit, so were delighted when the opportunity came up to take larger units in such a familiar location.”

Danny Pinkus, Partner at Robert Pinkus & Co. said, “Merlin Diesel Systems are an important player on the Walton Summit Business Centre and a crucial employer for the local area. We are delighted that they have decided to stay within the South Ribble neighbourhood and that we have been able to help them find suitable accommodation that fits their growth requirements. We wish them every success.”

The name ‘Merlin’ has been associated with diesel fuel injection test equipment since 1947 when founded in Halifax West Yorkshire and then later moving to Preston in the 1970’s. Merlin was bought out by the present owners in the 1990’s and has been transformed into one of the North West’s most prosperous companies.

Robert Pinkus & Co. and King Sturge acted as joint agents on behalf of the Landlords.
