Former Preston Distribution Site Sold to Morrisons Supermarkets

Posted on 26th March 2013

The UK’s fourth national supermarket chain Wm Morrison Supermarket Plc. has bought 12 acres of land in Preston for a major re-development in the city.

A significant part of a former major distribution site located at Blackpool Road/Ribbleton Lane just a few minutes north of Preston city centre will house a new Morrisons supermarket and petrol filling station. Morrisons have already started building works on site and it is understood that the supermarket’s target completion date is later this year.

Urban regeneration specialists, Centros acted on behalf of the Vendors as their development manager in brokering the deal and obtaining planning consent. Preston-based property consultants Robert Pinkus & Co. were instrumental in introducing the parties, provided local knowledge and acted as local development consultants for Centros.

Robert Pinkus, Partner at Robert Pinkus & Co. said, “We are very pleased to have been able to facilitate the early redevelopment of the derelict site which otherwise would have remained an eyesore in a high profile location, and at the same time create much needed employment for the area.”
