Co-Op Takes Former Ansdell Booths Store

Posted on 17th December 2014

The Co-Operative Group Food is set to open a new convenience foodstore at the site of the former Booths supermarket in Ansdell.

The Co-Op has taken the 9,454.77 sq ft property at 38-40 Woodlands Road, Ansdell on a new 15 year lease and works are underway to be open to the public by Autumn 2015. Robert Pinkus & Co LLP acted on behalf of the landlord E H Booth & Co. Ltd in the deal.

The property has been vacated by Booths as they are relocating to a new purpose-built 20,000 sq ft store at Heyhouses Lane, St Annes on the old Premium Bonds site. The new Booths store will form part of a wider regeration plan for the area delivered by Worthington Properties which will include 162 new homes, a new pub restaurant, a village green and a new retirement home. The plans will also protect the existing Site of Specific Scientific Interest along Heyhouses Lane.
