One of Britain’s biggest civil engineering firms has expanded its Lancashire base after relocating to offices on Preston docklands. Birse Coastal, part of Birse Civils Ltd., owned by engineering firm Balfour Beatty, has sub-let the 3,216 sq ft office unit at King Edward Quay VII, which is let to its parent company by private international investment company Topland Group.

Balfour Beatty has secured a five year lease to Birse Coastal at an undisclosed sum for the first of three suites available and has relocated its 80 strong workforce from Chorley. Encouraging interest is also being shown in another suite at the development and Robert Pinkus & Co. and Lamb & Swift are acting joint agents for the development.

The two remaining suites both offer 4,294 sq ft and are located at ground and first floor levels. Both suites benefit from individual open plan offices, secure lobby entrance, air conditioning, a passenger lift, and come with generous parking provision.

Located on Navigation Way, overlooking Albert Edward Dock, Edward VII Quay is five minutes drive from Preston city centre. The development comprises a successful mix of retail, offices, industrial and housing including companies such as KPMG, Barclays Bank and The Football League. Retailers on the Riversway Docklands include Morrisons supermarket, Homebase, McDonalds, KFC, Odeon Cinema, Chiquito and Carrefour Fitness Centre. The docklands also provide easy access to the M6, M61, M65 and M55 motorways, Preston train station is a short drive away and Blackpool International Airport is 30 minutes drive away.
