What is Rating Revaluation?

All companies occupying commercial properties have to pay non-domestic rates on their properties. The valuation office has issued revised assessments which will come into effect on 1st April 2010.

The current rateable value came into effect in 2005. The current re-valuation will be applicable for a period of 5 years.

These proposed new figures are based on values as at 1st April 2008 and could now be highly unrealistic due to the downturn in the property market and the subsequent changes we have seen in property values throughout the last 18 months. Therefore it is more important than ever to ensure that it has been assessed correctly.

However, they can be challenged and there is an opportunity to appeal the new assessment and obtain a reduction in the rates payable.

How Robert Pinkus & Co. can help...

We have 40 years experience in dealing with Rating Appeals throughout the UK.

We will make a full inspection and undertake a measurement of your premises.

If we consider the Rateable Value is incorrect, a Rating Appeal will be lodged on your behalf and negotiations will take place with the Valuation Office to agree a revised figure.

We do not charge an upfront fee and no fee is payable unless we are successful in obtaining a reduction in your Rateable Value, so there is nothing to lose in challenging the figures.
